Finally, I get to share a load of photos of our girls trip through Austria! On Sunday, two weeks ago, I took the train for 6.5 hours from Vienna to Bregenz – the very East of Austria to the very West. I worked until the Friday before and had an endless to-do-list to work through on Saturday – needless to say, I almost didn´t catch the train. I did in the end, though, and couldn´t get there fast enough. Let me tell you 6.5 hours didn´t fly by but all in all it was a smooth ride. I enjoyed my coffee, caught up on some reading and texted with Nina back and forth on where to meet when I´d finally arrive….
When we finally got to hug each other it was amazing and surreal. It felt like finally seeing again my long lost friend though as I told you we actually never met before. I was relieved and happy and took her out for lunch immediately were we got to talk about our travel plans and ideas over pumpkin gnocchi and cheese spätzle. It was amazing.
Later on we decided to take the cable car up to the Pfänderberg (and we are both afraid of heights!), where we walked around the way too steep paths and couldn´t get enough of the view! I mean, on a clear day you could see up to 240 (!) mountain peeks from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. That´s crazy! I honestly couldn´t get enough and tried to soak up the view and that amazing fresh air. I didn´t want to leave. Later, back in town, we walked around the Sunset Steps and went out for pizza and wine.
We got up pretty early the next day, munched some breakfast and walked around Martinsturm and Bregenz city along the bank of Bodensee. We even got a peek at the floating stage and the amazing Turandot set.
And just like that it was time to check out of the hotel and head to the train station to catch the train to Salzburg…
More on the next part of our trip, tomorrow!
