Pumpkin Spice Everything

Pumpkin Spice Everything | Spunkyrella.com

When the temperature drops and the first tree is bursting of yellow and orange leaves, we snuggle up in our favorites scarves and coats and know: fall is here! Nah, only kidding. Everyone knows it´s fall when Starbucks has their crowd-pleaser Pumpkin Spice Latte on the menu again :)

What is it with Pumpkin Spice that everyone get´s so crazy about it? Even here in Austria, where Thanksgiving recipes and the Halloween tradition are still not that of a big deal?

Today, I´d like to have a look at what the Pumpkin Spice actually is and how we can mix it, bake it, smell it and even rub it (!) into our lives this fall.

The Base

So what is Pumpkin Spice exactly? It´s a mix of ground all spice, cloves, cinnamon, dried ginger and nutmeg. The measurements and recipes outthere may vary but the one I like best is from Amanda and A Cookie Named Desire. It tastes like fall and is very simple to assemble!

The Latte

Personally, the Starbucks version is way to sweet for me (even with just one pump of syrup). My search for a healthy homemade version quickly led me to this Coconut Pumpkin Spice Latte from Tieghan and Half Baked Harvest. It´s creamy and rich and just sweet enough! Give it a try!

The Breakfast Staple

A Pumpkin Spice Granola is right up my alley. You put in the work and time once and get out a month-worth of breakfast. Win win! Joyful Healthy Eats´ version is simple and even works as a sweet treat now and then. I have it with almond milk and half a banana.

The Scrub

I am all in for a good body scrub and ever since I found this Pumpkin Spice Antioxidant Scrub, I want to give it a try. So far I didn´t get to and honestly I am also worried I would eat it up before I get to scrub anything :) But a quick forward to lil sis and the heart-eyes-emojis from her wouldn´t stop! She´s a scrub-convert. Lily from Kale & Caramel sure knows what she did to us. Spa scrub at home – check.

For The Home

Last but not least, why not try your hand at homemade candles? The artificial scented ones tend to give me a headache but making one myself might be a good option. The Pumpkin Spice Mason Jar Candles are small, easily made and would also be a great gift for coworkers and friends! She Uncovered came up with this how-to that might even transform yours truly into a DIY maven. Who knows?
